Human Factors Connection Ltd is a consultancy based in Aberdeen. We offer independent human factors and ergonomics expertise to clients operating within complex and safety critical domains. Through the selection and application of proven human factors techniques we can reduce your safety risks and optimise performance.

Lucy Glasgow

BSc (Hons) Psychology, MSc Human Factors in Work Design

Managing Director of Human Factors Connection with over 20 years of experience in providing Human Factors advice and expertise to a range of safety critical industries including aviation, rail and oil and gas. She is a registered member of IEHF.

Lucy spent 14 years working as part of the NATS human factors team during which time she was involved in:

  • The provision of Human Error Safety Assurance and User Interface design advice for Electronic Flight Progress Strips. A system which is currently operational in nine Airports across Tower, Approach and Offshore environments within the UK.
  • Leading a human factors team in the design of a control Area Centre control room and the transition of several control towers.
  • Delivery of over 50 projects across the broad range of Human Factors areas covering ergonomics, human performance improvement, ATM tools development, workspace design, training, safety analysis and assurance

Prior to this she worked as a human factors / ergonomics consultant at the Institute of Occupational Ergonomics in Nottingham where she developed an evaluation package for Railtrack PLC. to measure human factors related aspects of new integrated control centres She advised on the design of a manual handling aid for bulk cargo and undertook over 25 workplace assessments identifying high risk tasks and offering practical solutions in industries ranging from brick making to petrochemical manufacturing. In addition, she  regularly provided training to a range of government and industrial organisations.

Awards

Lucy was part of the team awarded the IEHF Presidents Medal in 2011 by the Institute of Ergonomics and Human Factors as part of the work to design and develop the Prestwick Centre Air Traffic Control operations room layout and working environment.
